New studio album and sheet music book
Augustine Mayuga Gonzales (amgonz.com) records my piano arrangements of music from the hit farming simulator RPG Stardew Valley. The 22-track studio album comes after a difficult and trying 2016: Stardew’s addicting gameplay, stellar music, and overall relaxing vibe makes it the perfect game to play when down and in desperate need to cope.
On April 14 and 15, I joined Augustine, David Peacock (daviddpeacock.com) and John Weston (futuraproductions.com) in the studio. Two more sessions this weekend, April 21 and 22, a few weeks of editing and mastering, and the album will start to take shape. This project is produced by Materia Collective and its CEO, Sebastian Wolff. Materia is well known for producing and releasing fan made arrangements of video game music from popular franchises like Pokemon and Final Fantasy and indie titles like Hyper Light Drifter and Undertale.
Alongside the recordings, the near 70-page sheet music book, complete with full color illustrations between the movements, will be released in both digital and physical formats. Music from every season will be represented, as well as music from the mines, and new music from the upcoming update. These arrangements resemble the Liszt transcriptions where nearly all parts from the original source are included while adding more to the virtuosity and expressivity of the music.
